How We
Work
Six steps from first conversation to an ongoing advice relationship.
My Net Worth / Lift Off / How We Work
01 — Establish the Relationship
Discovery Meeting
Where Every Advice Relationship Begins
Typically 60–90 minutes
We start with a conversation, not a form. An unhurried session focused entirely on you — where you are today, what you have built, what you want to protect, and the future you are working toward. We define the scope of engagement, walk you through how we work, and establish the foundation of our adviser-client partnership.
No products, no agenda. This meeting is about listening first. It helps us understand how you think about money, what keeps you up at night, and what success looks like for your family. It shapes every recommendation that follows — and it gives you a clear sense of what working with us actually feels like.
02 — Gather Information
Risk Profiling & Discovery
A Complete Picture of You and Your Goals
Typically 1–2 weeks
Before we can design anything meaningful, we need to understand everything relevant. We use a structured risk profiling assessment to map your attitude to risk against your actual financial capacity for it — the two are not always the same, and the gap between them is where many advice relationships go wrong.
We also build a comprehensive Discovery Document capturing your assets, liabilities, income, insurance cover, KiwiSaver, tax position, and financial goals. For most clients, this is the first time they have seen their complete financial situation mapped clearly in one place — and it is often revealing.
03 — Analyse & Evaluate
Scenario Planning & Analysis
Modelling the 'What Ifs' That Matter
Completed by your adviser between sessions
With a complete picture of your situation, we review your current financial position, assess your risk tolerance in context, and identify the strategies best suited to your needs. We model the key scenarios that affect your financial future — what happens if you stop work, buy a property, increase your savings rate, or retire earlier than planned.
This analysis turns abstract possibilities into concrete numbers. It gives you the clarity to make confident decisions — not because the future is certain, but because you have thought through the variables carefully and know how each choice affects the others.
04 — Develop Recommendations
Your Strategy
A Plan Written for You Alone
Typically 45–60 minutes to present
We bring everything together in a clear, written Statement of Advice — our formal recommendations for your specific situation. Not a template with your name applied to it. Every recommendation is grounded in your circumstances, stress-tested across scenarios, and explained in plain language before a single decision is made.
We present this plan to you directly, walk you through the reasoning, and answer every question. We only move forward when you are fully confident in the direction. This document becomes the foundation for everything we build together.
05 — Implement the Plan
Implement & Set Up
Every Detail, Handled
1–3 weeks depending on scope
With your approval, we move with deliberate care. KiwiSaver adjustments, insurance policy updates, investment account setup, debt restructuring — each element implemented precisely, timed to your life, and coordinated across providers so nothing falls between the cracks.
We also set you up with your secure client portal — a live view of your financial world where you can track your net worth, review your goals, access documents, and stay in contact with your adviser. Your financial life, in one organised place.
06 — Monitor & Review
Ongoing Partnership
Reviews That Actually Mean Something
Quarterly, bi-annual, or annual meetings
Your circumstances change. Markets evolve. Life has a way of making even the best-designed strategies require adjustment. We meet regularly — quarterly, bi-annually, or annually — to review your plan against your current reality and ensure it remains aligned with where you are headed.
These are substantive conversations, informed by everything we know about you and supported by live data from your client portal. Not administrative check-ins. Reviews that keep your strategy honest, your goals on track, and our relationship sharp.
Common Questions
How long does the whole process take?
Most clients go from first meeting to implemented plan in 4–6 weeks. Complex situations involving multiple products or restructuring take closer to 8 weeks. We will give you a realistic timeline after the discovery meeting.
Do I need to have a lot of money to work with you?
No minimum balance for most services. We work with people who are at the start of their wealth-building journey as much as those who are further along. Our fee structure scales to your situation.
What if I only want help with one thing?
That's fine. Many clients start with a single service — KiwiSaver, insurance, or a goal plan — and build the relationship over time. You are never required to engage across all services.
Is this a one-off service or ongoing?
Ongoing, by design. Annual reviews are built into every engagement. Your plan is a living document that changes as your life does — and your adviser is available between reviews for anything that comes up.
